Hill Descent Control Warning Light - Flashing

This warning light illuminates or flashes when the hill descent control is switched on, and does not indicate a fault.

Hill descent control automatically applies the brakes to slow the vehicle when the accelerator pedal is not depressed. It is typically used when driving downhill on a surface with poor grip. A rapid pulsing noise may be audible; this is the sound of the pump operating and is normal.

The warning light will flash when the hill descent control system is switched on but the vehicle is moving too fast for hill descent control operation, or when the system has been used excessively. To switch off the hill descent control, briefly press the hill descent control switch. The warning light will extinguish.

The hill descent control switch is located on the fascia above the heater controls.

Handbook Extract

If the light flashes, hill descent control has been selected, but the operating conditions are not being met or hill descent control fade-out is occurring.
