If the fuel nozzle switches off repeatedly, the misfuelling device may have deployed. The misfuelling device is designed to prevent petrol being added to the fuel tank.
The vehicle may feature either an active or a passive misfuelling device.
The active misfuelling device is normally closed and opens when a diesel pump nozzle is inserted. To open the metal flap, the correct sized pump nozzle must be inserted fully and squarely. No reset procedure is necessary. If using a non-standard sized filler nozzle, a 25 mm adapter must be inserted into the filler neck first (this is not included in the vehicle tool kit).
The passive misfuelling device is normally open and deploys if a petrol pump nozzle is inserted. When deployed, a yellow plastic flap is visible inside the fuel filler. The passive misfuelling device must be reset using the yellow reset tool.
